Teens help clean Austin parks

AUSTIN, Texas — A youth group from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined the Austin Parks Foundation and Austin Parks and Recreation semiannual sponsored event, It’s My Park Day, on March 7, 2020. 

Volunteers spent the morning on a clean-up and refurbishment project at Dick Nichols Park at 8011 Beckett Road. Equipped with shovels, trash bags and work gloves — girls, boys and their youth leaders mulched beds, picked up trash, debris and cleaned up the common areas. 

The youth were encouraged to invite friends to join efforts to help maintain and clean the park, a frequent venue for many of their activities. Austin holds the event on the first Saturdays in March and November.
