AUSTIN, Texas — Members of Brigham Young University’s Organ Department will be in Austin, Texas, on March 8, 2019, for a free organ concert followed by a workshop the next day, March 9, at 5201 Convict Hill Road.
All are welcome to both events, hosted by the Austin Oak Hills Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Past, current or aspiring organists will have an opportunity to participate and interact with the BYU organ department personnel. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Saturday’s organ training workshop event, from 8 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. will include three instruction tracks designed to enhance competence and confidence on the organ.
First, “Experience the Organ,” designed especially for young people, shows what the organ can do and gives everyone a chance to try it. Next, the “How To” track offers tools to begin building confidence at the organ. And also, “Beyond the Basics,” provides ideas and inspiration to those already comfortable at the organ.
Register HERE for the March 9 organ workshop. Both events are free and open to the public.
