AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Texas Stake and Austin Texas Oak Hills Stake members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met this weekend for a special conference. General Authority Seventy Elder Adrián Ochoa and Area Seventy Carlos Villarreal were assigned to carry out the assignment to create the new Austin Texas West Stake.
Three ward congregations from the Austin Stake and four from the Oak Hills Stake make up the new stake boundaries. None of the ward boundaries changed and each ward will continue to meet in its existing building and at the same times, until further notice.
The Anderson Mill, Shoal Creek and McNeil wards from the Austin Stake plus Barton Creek, Bee Cave, Hamilton Pool and Lake Travis wards from the Oak Hills Stake make the new Austin West Stake.
Leadership changes for the three stakes were announced and sustained by church members from within their own stakes.
Scott Kelley remains as president for the Austin Stake with Russell Aldridge and Doug Rose as counselors.
Christopher Germann, who was previously president of the Oak Hills Stake, is now president of the Austin West Stake with Paul Parks and Jim Bylund as counselors.
Michael Tolman Smith was called as president of the Austin Oak Hills Stake with Jeremy McFadden and Matt Stout as counselors.
